Burroughs Falls Trail

Whether you’re hiking or snowshoeing along the beautiful Niger River, you’ll discover

the magic of this forest, which has been protected forever thanks to the visionary decision of the Stanstead East municipal council.

In 2019, the municipality purchased the land from Hydro-Québec to create a park. Recognizing its cultural importance and unique ecosystem, the council signed a conservation servitude protecting 13 hectares in perpetuity with the Massawippi Conservation Trust (MCT) in 2023.

Today, the park has a 1.9-km network of trails. Infrastructure for physical activity, relaxation, contemplation, and socializing has been put in place for the enjoyment of visitors of all ages.

This park is owned by the Municpality of Stanstead East. The land is protected and the trail is maintained by the Massawippi Conservation Trust.

The Trail has been funded in part by the Ministère de l’Éducation, Programme d’aide financière aux infrastructures récréatives, sportives et de plein air – Volet 2 (PAFIRSPA – V2). The Massawippi Foundation and our private donors have contributed to the unfunded portion of the costs of the trail.

Use of the trails on this conserved property is a privilege.
