Mélanie Lelièvre Appointed Executive Director of the Massawippi Foundation

The Board of Directors of the Massawippi Foundation is delighted to welcome Mélanie Lelièvre as its new Executive Director. Her appointment marks a major strategic step aimed at supporting the growth of our conservation and community impact programmes.
Mélanie brings with her over twenty years of leadership within environmental organisations. Her achievements include transforming Corridor Appalachien into a leading regional organisation from 2007 to 2025, during which time she oversaw a major expansion of protected land, from 4,000 to over 17,000 hectares. More recently, she served as Director of the Environment Office for the City of Sherbrooke, spearheading major initiatives such as the Climate Plan and the protection of natural environments.
“With the appointment of Mélanie Lelièvre, the Foundation gains a seasoned leader to guide our next phase of development. Her arrival brings the expertise and vision needed to ensure our organisation’s influence and the protection of the land for future generations,” says Jonathan Elkas, Chair of the Board of Directors.
“I am honoured to join an organisation whose mission of conservation and community impact is so fundamental. Think globally, act locally is an approach that resonates deeply with me. To date, a common thread has emerged among everyone I’ve met since my arrival: a deep commitment and a genuine desire to move our community forward. It’s incredibly inspiring!”, says Mélanie Lelièvre.
She has recently taken up her post and will be working closely with the team, particularly with Hélène Hamel, who is continuing her commitment in her new role as Director of Operations and Communications.
You will have several opportunities to meet Mélanie this summer, notably at our Annual General Meeting and during our 15th-anniversary celebrations on 27 August. Welcome once again, Mélanie!
